Quick start guide Viable Issues Cloud

Prerequisites

Please make sure you carefully read the "Prerequisites" section on the https://hagen-management.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AQCRUg page for Viable Issues for Confluence Cloud.

Apply Viable Issues for Confluence and Jira for the first time

This app allows you to use two Macros in the Confluence editor:

  • Viable Issues Button

  • Viable Issues Page Report

Add the macros to a Confluence page. Please follow the instructions of Atlassian’s official documentation for macros.

As mentioned on Installation Viable Issues Cloud, every user has to grant permission that Confluence can read and write data from Jira upon first usage of Viable Issues for Cloud.

Viable Issues Button

The Viable Issues macro is the main function of the App. You can create Jira issues by clicking the button.
This button opens a dialog window that shows a create screen for Jira issues.

In the default configuration the project field will be filled with the Jira project bearing the same project key as the Confluence space. The project and issue type can be changed by the user while creating the issue.

Additionally, a label will be set on each issue. The label has the prefix "vi-" followed by 6 digits of the hashed ID of your instance. Additionally the ID of the page where the Viable Issues Button is placed. This results in the following pattern: vi-<hashed cloud id>-<page id>

Please refer to Using the Viable Issues Button for more details.

Viable Issues Page Report

Sometimes it is useful to display all issues created from the current page. With the Viable Issues Page Report this specification can be achieved without any further configurations.

Simply add the macro on your page and you will see the issues. The following columns will be displayed:

  • Issue type

  • Summary

  • Assignee

  • Status

This features relies on the labels added to the Jira issues as mentioned above.
