Configuring the Viable Project Creator

Prerequisites

Viable Project Creator at the moment can only work properly, if you are at least on the Jira Standard plan. Otherwise it is not possible to use custom schemas when creating projects.

In the future we are planning to support Free plans as well.

After installing Viable Project Creator it is time to configure it properly.

Find the configuration in your Jira at Apps → Manage apps and choose the page to configure Viable Project Creator from the sidebar

Jira

Transitions

The transitions are the most important part as they define on which transition a Jira project and Confluence space are created.

To make it work, select the statuses you want to use in the following fields:

  • Transition From

  • Transition To

Project lead

You can tell Jira which person should be the project lead of you newly created projects.

Schemes

When a Jira project is created there are some schemes that must be set.

  • Permission scheme

  • Notification scheme

  • Workflow scheme

  • Issue Type Screen scheme

  • Issue Type scheme

Custom Field

In the field

  • Project key (Custom Field)

you can define from where the automation takes the key for the new project and space.

Confluence

When the Confluence space is created, you can insert a copy of your template in it.

Therefore you can set a space and a page in the fields

  • Template space

  • Template page

Please add the term ##PROJECTKEY## in the title of each page, so that it can be replaced with your project key.
